2023 Festival

Throughout the month of May, we offered 25 events with 29 participating artists. This year’s artists critically investigated various forms of work from arms manufacturing to flower arranging. Their artworks, informed by personal histories of social activism and research, recognized workers as agents of social transformation.

Struggles for better working and living conditions have guided our most revolutionary movements. Looking back at labour history to imagine future justice, the 2023 festival honoured the workers who make change possible. Thank you for joining us as we collectively envisioned just transitions!

In solidarity,
Mayworks’ Executive Director, Board and Staff
