“Our futures and dreams will be nourished and strengthened if we take occasions like this to reflect together, to share our best ideas and insights, and to turn on its head the notion that art is a luxury.”
Mayworks ‘87 celebrates the music, poetry, imagery, wisdom and experience that can be found in the Canadian workers’ movement. The 2nd annual Mayworks Festival provided an occasion to gather, take stock and remember that art belongs to all of us. The events and projects in the program demonstrate how much Mayworks expanded in two short years. The programming challenges the opinion that art should have nothing to do with politics.
