This image depicts three marine vessels connected by the Soufrière Port in Saint Lucia: a local fisherman’s boat, a marine crane barge from Fort-de-France, Martinique, and a yacht with unknown origins.
This image illustrates the evolving maritime environment, which poses challenges to the livelihoods of local fishermen. Recent illegal U.S. Military strikes targeting fishing vessels, claimed to be drug traffickers, in the region further exacerbates the existing issues from increased development and tourism, and destructive fishing techniques.
The Know Problem poster invites viewers to consider images that reflect the interconnected experiences shaping the work of Saint Lucia’s fishermen today.
