The 1970s saw an explosion of women’s participation in the workforce. Many were low paid clerical workers who were typically considered the “office wives” of their male supervisors. A group of secretaries in Boston began organizing for better pay, more advancement opportunities and an end to sexual harassment. With their unconventional approach, a movement was started and 9to5 evolved into the largest membership organization of working women in the United States.
Featuring interviews with 9to5 founders as well as with Jane Fonda who starred in the hit movie based on the movement, this documentary film chronicles the previously untold story of the fight that changed the American workplace.

Julia Reichert
Julia Reichert is an Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker and radical feminist educator who has dedicated her career to capturing stories that explore class, gender, and race in America. In 1971, she helped to found New Day Films, a US film distribution company which avoids traditional distribution to theaters and instead distributes films directly to schools, unions, and community groups.
Steven Bognar
Steven Bognar is an Academy Award-winning independent filmmaker and media arts educator. His films have been screened at SXSW Sundance and the Ann Arbor Film Festival. He has also worked as an instructor of media arts, teaching at public schools across his home state of Ohio as well as at Antioch College.
