MAYWORKS IN THE WORKPLACE

Kill a Worker, Go To Jail
Friday April 27, 12 noon, Free
Chinese Railway Workers’ Memorial, Blue Jays Way and Navy Wharf Court

As Toronto’s workforce is faced with honouring more and more victims of workplace accidents the Toronto & York Region Labour Council marks this national Day of Mourning with calls for much stronger penalties for employers responsible of neglect. Join health and safety activists, City Councillors, hip-hop artist MC Mohammad Ali and dozens of union activists to mark the passing of those who have been killed on the job or who have died as a result of workplace accidents and illness. The event acts to re-dedicate our efforts to achieve healthier and safer workplaces and to seek justice for all workers.

Organized by the Toronto and York Region Labour Council and the Workers Health and Safety Centre.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC MEMORY at Toronto and York Region Labour Council!
Thursday May 3, 7:30 pm, Free
OFL Building, 15 Gervais Drive

The DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC MEMORY will make a special appearance at the May general members’ meeting of Labour Council. They will set-up a display about the collection of memories they have been gathering and recorded over the past year from citizens of Toronto about the public services they value and enjoy! A commemoration of what makes Toronto special as well as the workers who deliver the services we most enjoy! And check out their other Mayworks’ appearance in the Workshops/Forums program section.

MAYWORKS IN THE SCHOOLS

Mayworks is working on the next installment of the Schools program! Stay tuned!

The Schools program brings professional artists into high schools in cooperation with the Equity Department of the Toronto and District School Board, with a focus on little known labour history and labour issues.
